Biography

My name is Mikko Lagerstedt and I'm a self taught fine art photographer from Finland. I enjoy to take pictures at night and when ever there is fog around. I try to capture the moment on how I saw it when I photographed it. I try to convey that feeling to the viewers.

Review about GR

Thoughts about the camera:

I'm really pleased with the camera optical and low light performance. I will be taking photos in the street also, because it is so handy and small, it is barely visible to the common people. The back screen is really great and works perfectly in daylight also. Easy to use system helps me to concentrate on the photographing part. This little camera has all the things I need in a camera. Easy controls and top image quality. Perfect for me.

The Photos:

Evening River: ISO 100, f/4.5, 1/25 sec at 18.3 mm
A photo I took at a river near where I live, in Kerava, Finland. The was humid and after sunset I head to take photos with the new Ricoh GR -camera. The mist started to rise from the river and the colors were phenomenal.

Field of Darkness: ISO 100, f/4.5, 0,4 sec at 18.3 mm
I went out to photograph in Tuusula, Finland. This photo is taken near a Tuusula, Golf Club. The sun was was below the horizon and the fog started to move as in a horror movie. It was a beautiful sight.

Field of View: ISO 100, f/2.8 1/60 sec at 18.3 mm
There was a beautiful sunrise happening in couple of minutes. I drove to a field and started to trek towards the lines of the field. I found a place where the lines went to the horizon while the mist was visible and the horizon was barely visible.

First Light: ISO 100, f/4.0, 1/1000 sec at 18.3 mm
The Sun was barely shining through the thick cloud of fog and the trees looked stunning under the sun. This photo was taken on a very misty morning with beautiful sunrise over a sand dunes.

Lines: ISO 100, f/4.5, 1/80 sec at 18.3 mm
These power lines looked fascinating how they disappeared to the mist. Sun was just starting to rise and the field was covered with layers of fog.

Morning Dew: ISO 100, f/2.8, 1/50 sec at 18.3 mm
Low angle shot which was easy to get with the Ricoh GR -camera due to a fine back monitor. I shot this on a morning, just before sunrise on a field covered with fog and morning dew. It was a beautiful sight.

Night at the Lake: ISO 100, f/4.0, 0,8 sec at 18.3 mm
This pier is located in Tuusulanjärvi, Finland. One beautifully calm evening I went there to take this photo. The mist was rising from the water and dancing on through the horizon line in the scenery.

Orchid: ISO 100, f/2.8, 1/25 sec, Macro -mode, at 18.3 mm
My wife had this beautiful Orchid on the living room table and she asked me to capture it before the flowers drop. I shot this with the excellent Macro mode of the camera and liked how the composition turned. I used another shot here as well as a texture with low opacity. I shot both images just in minutes time with the Ricoh camera.

Rising Mist: ISO 100, f/4.5, 1/13 sec at 18.3 mm
Saw this house, almost hidden in between the trees and while the sun had set, the fog was rising from the river and I took this photo. The amount of detail in the foreground is really exceptional.

Tracks: ISO 100, f/2.8, 1/13 sec at 18.3 mm
While I was trekking through the field I turned back and looked how I had left tracks on the field in the dew. I made a black and white conversion in Lightroom to emphasize the tracks in the field.
